Xu Junxuan was born in Jiangyin, Jiangsu province in 1934. In 1960, he graduated from Department of Oil Painting, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. In 1962, he graduated from the oil painting graduate class held by Professor Boba from Romania. After graduation, he stayed in the university and taught. He was once vice president in Department of Oil Painting, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts and director of the studio. He is now professor in CAFA, member of Association of Chinese Fine Arts Artists.
